The Volvo Ocean Race is the pinnacle of offshore racing… an organization that I dreamt about being part of and was able to make that dream a reality.
The Volvo Ocean Race was coming to Newport, RI and I had to be part of it. I volunteered to be involved in whatever way possible. Eventually I got so involved that I was able to stay on the team for the end of the race, paid. From arrivals and departures to in-port races and awards galas, I was a critical part of the events team while being part of this amazing race.
I strongly believe in volunteerism and have gained lots of opportunities due to my serve-first attitude.
